African extensions do not share the same rules

From one country to the next, the conditions have nothing in common. The .dz requires proof of presence or activity in Algeria. The .eg requires a legal entity holding a trademark registered in Egypt, with documents, and refuses generic terms. The .ma requires a Moroccan address. An African extension is not a .com with a different suffix.

How do I transfer a domain name to Hodi, and how long does it take?
You need the transfer code (EPP) from your current registrar, and the domain must be more than 60 days old and unlocked. The transfer takes from a few hours to five days depending on the extension, and it adds a year to your expiry date rather than resetting it. Your site and email keep running: nothing changes until you move the hosting itself.
What does "Registration in progress" mean on my domain?
The registry has not confirmed the creation yet. That is normal for a few minutes on a .com, and it can take several days on a national extension that checks the documents you provided. While it lasts, the domain is reserved in your name but does not resolve yet.
Can I register any African extension?
No, and each country's registry decides. Some require nothing, others ask for a local address, a registered trademark, or a DNS server in the country. We provide the local DNS where it is required, but the holder requirement is on you.
Are DNS servers included?
Yes. Every domain registered with us comes with our DNS servers and a zone you can edit from your client area: A, CNAME, MX and TXT records. You can also point the domain at someone else's name servers if your site is hosted elsewhere.
How do I change my domain's DNS servers?
From your client area, on the domain page, under name servers. The change takes from a few minutes to 24 hours to propagate depending on the internet providers. During that window some visitors reach the old server and others the new one: that is normal, and it settles on its own.
Do I need hosting to buy a domain?
No. A domain can be bought on its own, and many customers start there to secure a name before they have a site. You add hosting when you need it, without changing domain or filing anything again.
